What is ROP?

The San Diego Community College District Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is a tax-supported statewide public education vocational training program. Most ROP courses are offered tuition-free, regardless of income, to all residents 16 years of age and older.

Every ROP course and its content is approved by the State Department of Education. Practical hands-on experience is an important part of the ROP training.

Students who complete ROP courses will receive a certificate and a list of occupational competencies they have mastered.

Certain ROP courses taught through the San Diego Community College District may be taken for college credit and will appear on a San Diego Community College District student transcript. All ROP courses available for credit conform to San Diego Community College District curriculum standards.
