Industry sectors include:
- Focused career development in a chosen industry sector
- Instruction from industry leaders who participate in the design and delivery of training and exploration activities
- Relevant real-world work experience through a 60 hour non-paid internship
- Recognition of the relevancy of education to career
- Recognition of math, communication and science skills as a necessary foundation
- Awareness of opportunities and requirements in a chosen career field
- Development of a 3-5 year sequential education plan to achieve stated goals including certificates of achievement, transfers, Associates or Baccalaureate degrees, and employment in a high-skill, high-paying industry sector
The Summer Career Institutes for Students is designed to advance the current Tech Prep education program by introducing innovative programs and practices, beyond that, to enrich the lives of our students and strengthen the economy of California.
