Your student can get a "Jump Start" on earning college credit as well as participate in an internship this summer. The "Jump Start" Summer Career Institutes is an innovative summer bridging program for high school students. Your student must meet eligibility requirements to participate.

ARCHIVED 2005

THE PROGRAM

Three weeks of classroom instruction, held at Mesa, Miramar and City colleges, give your student an opportunity to earn up to four college credits. The curriculum includes Digital Video and Introduction to Engineering.
Classroom instruction will be followed by a 60 hour internship at a company in San Diego. Your student will interview for an internship at a company in their career pathway. SDCCD personnel will be working with your student to complete the registration process.

As a parent/guardian, you can ensure your student's success by:
  • Supporting and encouraging your student's efforts to complete all required enrollment steps and registration forms and by signing parental permission forms. parents
  • Attending a scheduled parent orientation at Mesa, City or Miramar College.
  • Discussing any job related issues, concerns, and challenges to help your student be successful.
  • Ensuring that your student has reliable transportation to and from the college campus and the worksite.
